David Rapson is an associate professor in the Department of Economics and Co-Director of the Davis Energy Economics Program (DEEP). His research focuses on energy and environmental economics, industrial organization, and applied microeconomics. Rapson studies how firms and consumers make decisions about energy use and what this implies for optimal energy and environmental policy. Current research topics include vehicle markets (the transition towards fleet electrification), electricity markets (dynamic pricing, distribution reliability, integrating EVs), energy efficiency, climate policy and regulation. His research appears in The American Economic Review, Science, Nature, and other academic journals. Rapson holds an AB in economics from Dartmouth College; an MA in economics from Queen's University; and a PhD in economics from Boston University.
